Dr. Hilal Kaya is the Visiting Teaching Fellow at Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies, The University of Edinburgh and offers Turkish language and literature courses. She also holds a teaching position at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, Turkey.
She graduated from Ankara University, English Language and Literature Department and continued her MA and PhD studies in the English Literature department at Middle Eastern Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She is also affiliated with the University of Edinburgh as a visiting scholar to conduct her postdoctoral research on the novels of Latife Tekin and Virginia Woolf.
Her current interests lie in comparative and cultural studies related to the issues Turkish and British literatures intersect. Her articles which focus on Turkish modernity, the novels of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar, Oguz Atay, Samuel Beckett, and Aldous Leonard Huxley have been published in national and international journals.
